Clinical Laboratory Testing

Cooley Animal Clinic offers a wide range of laboratory tests.  We have automated analyzers in our clinic for running CBC's, electrolytes, and chemistry panels on blood.  Blood work is commonly run on pets before they have surgery or if they are sick or geriatric.  We also send blood out routinely for many other tests including thyroid levels, phenobarbital levels, and allergy testing.

Urine is frequently analyzed in our clinic.  We check a dipstick, specific gravity (concentration), and look at a sample under the microscope.  Cultures can be sent out to identify infection causing bacteria, if needed.

Our microscope is also used to look for ear and skin mites, parasites in fecal samples, yeast and bacteria on skin impression smears, microfilaria (baby heartworms), dermatophytes (ringworm), and to examine fine needle aspirate samples and blood smears.

Please call us concerning any laboratory testing questions!
