Identification Microchips
A microchip is a tiny device that is placed under the skin to permanently identify pets. Animal clinics, animal control officers, and humane societies use microchip scanners to search all pets that are found for a microchip. If a pet has one, a number unique to that pet will pop up on the scanner. The microchip company has record of the clinic that number was sent to, and the clinic has the owner's information.
Cooley Animal Clinic recommends that owners microchip their pets. The procedure is done in the exam room and only takes a couple of seconds!
