Pain Management

Great care is taken at Cooley Animal Clinic to give your pet the best pain relief possible.  Nerve blocks are used for declaws and tooth extractions.  Fentanyl patches are very helpful for longer term pain management.  Morphine and other narcotics are commonly given for routine surgical procedures.  Epidural analgesia is helpful for knee surgeries and fracture repairs of the rear limbs.

Post operative pain management may consist of narcotics or anti-inflammatory medication.  Pain patches are used when pain management of two to three days may be necessary.  The ultimate goal with pain management is to return your pet to a comfort level that will result in a speedy recovery.
